My dear friend, in our society, we see so many activities around charity. In fact, whole western religion gave a very high importance for charity, particularly christian religion. Those peoples are doing those charity, we consider them, these are very good people. But in the East, not a single religion, talk about charity, okay in modern times lot of new Gurus or Swamis are talking about charity or social service, but they are mostly influenced by the British period, when they ruled in India. 200 years ruled by the British, it is almost 3 generations, Indian religion now just the offspring of western religion. The originality and the essence is almost lost. Now the Eastern religions or ancient religions almost disappeared from the earth. It is almost like a Indian man, looks like Indian, but his food, clothes, thinking, all are Western. And, they might say, they love India or ancient country or their motherland, but if they get the opportunity to go to America or Europe, there will be nobody in India or Asia. Buddha said, you cannot do the charity, because what you have, nothing is belonging to you. So how you can give something, when something don`t belong to you. There is only one thing you can do, is, you can serve yourself. When you will serve yourself, you will become more and more positive person and virtue will grow in you and as a result, the people who will live around you, will get benefit from that. This wisdom also came from Upanishads, Tao, Santo and modern Shankacharia also totally agree with Buddha and Sanadanhamma. Another reason, Eastern ancient religion do not encourage the charity because the greatest enemy of human life is the ego. Those people who give the charity, by giving the charity, instead of destroying their ego, it boost their ego. Many rich people and sinners, they do all kind of bad and negative things, harm the people and the society and just after that, they give some charity and they think, their sin will be forgiven. But, one thing works for them is, subconsciously, they don`t tortured by the consciousness, because of the charity, it works as a puffer for their action. Many have the ideas, rather working on ones own self and transform the being, it is more easy, remain whatsoever they are, and time to time do some charity and feel good. It is more easy for them. If you look at west, Those are doing great charity in the Asian and African countries, what they have done? First in the name of religion they goes there, give the food or clothes or medicine and later on, they will create a market there and sell the product. They use the charity as a marketing strategy. Some are more worse than that, they go and look for the people who are the poor of poor, they will give them some bread and snatch away their birth religion and convert them into Christians or Muslims and so on. To convert somebody` s religion is worst than rape somebody. It is, the rape on somebody`s soul. Because, the birth religion is so precious in everybody`s life, people can never forget that. It is related with his root of existence. But, those peoples who are doing this, they are thinking, by converting them into Christianity or Islam, they are giving them the opportunity to go to heaven. In fact, there is a secret reward for them also, these religions say, if you can convert to a none Muslim or Christian into Muslim or Christian, you will go direct to heaven, just because of this reward, many kings or queens in Europe, give the life thread to the citizens, either you convert their religion to their religion or face death or leave the country. Jews suffer this brutality throughout the history. Sometimes they have to leave the country in three days, those places, they were living thousands of years. All these brutalities coming from the root of charity. In India, in the name of charity, lot of peoples open hospitals and schools, but behind the peoples eyes, they are cheating income tax and they are the main dealer of all kind of social injustice. All the holy scriptures talk about charity, but it is so strange, they talk about spiritual charity and all the unconscious people translate that to material charity and because of this conversin, truth becomes 180 degree turn. For example in holy scriptures it is said, sacrifice the animal, but they mean to sacrifice the animal within you. They say, feed the Brahmans, but feed the Brahmans mean, the person who dedicate his life for wisdom, but now you start feeding those people who are born in a Brahman family. He is not sacrificing for wisdom. When yourself will be loving and joyful, compassion and love will flow automatically to you, you don`t need to make extra effort, or force people to get your charity. One day, in Christian school, one teacher was telling to his student in the class, every week at least you must do one charity work, so the next week, I will ask all of you, what charity work you have done. So the next week the teacher asked to the student, so one by one they have said, what charity work, they have done. In the last bench three boys are sitting, one boy said, my charity work was, I helped a 70 years old lady to cross the road. Second boy stand and said, the same thing, third boy stand and also said the same thing. So the teacher becomes suspicious it is so strange, out of three of you all of a sudden, find so many 70 years old ladies to cross to road, Then one boy said, we did not found 3 ladies to cross to road, we found one 70 years old lady and I tried to help her to cross the road, but she did not wanted to go the other side, so the second boy helped me, but she is so bitchy, she don`t want to go, so the third boy came, so I hold the hands, second one hold the legs and the other one hold the had and we managed to cross the road with her. So the teacher asked, why she did not wanted to go to the other side? The boy said, because her house is this side of the road, but because you said, we have to do the charity work, so we have manged to bring her to the other side of the road and we have done the charity work, you told us to do. So, this is happening in the world. The rich countries coming to the poor countries, if they want or they don`t want they are stuffing their charity work through the throat of the poor people. For example rich peoples countries don`t have place to throw their old clothes, so they will put them in the ship and bring them to the third world countries and give those clothes to the poor people in third world countries as a charity. But people do not understand one simple thing is, European weather and Asian and African weather is not the same, the cloth is good for European countries is not good for Asian and African countries, but because of the charity clothes, when they wear those clothes, they will have so many skin diseases, those skin diseases have been never before in Asian countries. European people in the past collected the blankets from the prison who had Chicken pocks or plaques and gave those blankets to the red Indians, when they went there and as a result, millions of red Indians died in chicken pocks and plaques. Later the European people went there and give the injection for the treatment for those skin diseases as charity. So, we have to be very careful about those kind of charity. It has another big benefit also for those rich countries and politicians, when they have so many social problems, then they will use the poverty and suffering and diseases of third world countries and show their citizen, look, those peoples have no legs to walk and you are feeling sad, just because you don`t have shoes. This example is used in the church again and again like a broken record. You should be thankful, because your life is better than those third world countries peoples, they not even have fresh water to eat. And it makes sense for to develop the countries citizen to console themselves okay, we are better than others, so we should keep quite and be thankful to our rulers and those people who are taking taxes and who are running our society. I might look very negative in my statements, but I really feel sorry to say all this, what can I do, when so many negative things are happening around, so many injustice is happening to the poor and innocent people, I am not against rich peoples, or politicians or priest, what is the point to be against these unfortunate peoples. I say, they are unfortunate, because God gave them so much wealth, so much power, so much knowledge, they could use all these resources for to make their life beautiful and happy and if their life was going to be happy and cheerful, from that cheerfulness, charity was becoming to get a natural blossoming, there would have been not needed to carry these secret agendas behind those charity. One day Buddha was passing by, a bird fall on his lab, Buddha took the bird and saw the bird is wounded, he gave water to the bird and treat the bird few days, and few days later the bird became cured and Buddha hold the bird in his two hands in front of lots disciple and flew the bird in the sky. The charity should be beautiful like this.
